Wow, something just CLICKED in little Anna's brain this week. In the last few days she has started really paying attention to HOW to say words. And she's added a few more to her repertoire, as well. She can now say "doggy," "Daddy" (in addition to "dada") and "hi!". All three of those need a little coaching; she resorts to Annaspeak most of the time. But when she says them, they're pretty understandable. So cool! It just feels like a switch was flipped and she's going to be busting out new words every day now.
Vicki, Jason and the kids came up our way on a mini-tour of the coast.
We got to see them a couple of times while they whirlwind-visited San
Francisco. Sophia is almost 4 and Lucas is 7, and they're both very
tall and coordinated and smart and good-looking. Anna and I joined them on the big playground at
Golden Gate Park and for one very
tasty dinner at Nopa. We went to Muir Woods to see them, too, but missed them (no cell phone reception). Here's a shot of Anna on the carousel at Golden Gate Park. Click the photo below to see more of the visit.
It's all she thinks about, it's how she spends most of her day. Anna loves to eat things all by herself. And she's starting to get pretty good at it. She ate a nice serving of applesauce by herself the other morning. There was some mess, don't get me wrong, but she's hitting her mouth, maybe, 30% of the time ... that's an improvement!
Brian and I are pretty sure that Anna says "A-wa" when she wants water. Yippee! I think that puts her word tally up to four: agua, dada, bye-bye and moo (though they all sound a little different than the "proper" pronunciation). I'm still not sure she's saying doggy.
