Anna must have asked me "why?" 30 times today. Let's see, what did I try to explain today? Capitalism and the reasons for telemarketers; how grown men generally celebrate their birthdays (Me: "They like steak more than cake." Anna: "No cake?!!?"); and why her friend Josie was not at gymnastics today. There were some others, and one of them ended with me saying "I don't know." Then her "why?" Then me: "'Cuz I'm not very smart." I guess I'm finding out just how not-smart I am. I better start reading up on stuff.
We got a babysitter for Anna tonight, and under a full moon, ate great sushi, had a drink at a decades-old, dark-wood, old-timey Nob Hill "establishment" and walked around in lovely weather in our beautiful city. A very nice 6th anniversary night.
Poor Anna. Some small stomach bug kept her up all night Thursday and she wasn't able to eat much Friday, poor thing. She is so snuggly and sweet when she's sick, but this time, she did not like mommy and LOVED daddy. Good for daddy, bad for mommy. When else will I get to snuggle with her? She's all better now. Though come to think of it, she's still not very fond of mommy ...
