Anna and I went up to the newish Bay Area enclave called American Canyon (near Napa) to visit with Eva and Levi. The girls played at their fabulous new house and at the playground nearby. And we got to see Vern, too! Eva is a bit younger than Anna, but showing all the same toddler characteristics: adorability, bossiness and spontaneous alphabet song outbursts. Some photos of the fun here, click the one below to see more.
Jessica, Josie, Anna and I had a great time in lovely weather in a place called Fairyland in Oakland a couple weeks ago. It's a mini-amusement park with a fairy-tale theme. The girls went through an Alice in Wonderland maze, watched a puppet show (sort of), and generally had a great time. We'll be back there for sure.
Eva and Anna had a great time in Berkeley the other day at a place called Habitot. It's a huge play space with a water room, a play grocery store, a crafts room with a paint wall and every other toy you can imagine. We were there for nearly two hours and I think they could have stayed for another two.

in the "I can't believe I just said that" file: "No, Anna, we don't put noodles in our armpits."
------------------------------------------
An afterword, 8/09: I just happened upon an earlier post from Feb, and this is NOT the first time Anna has put things in her armpits. Hmmm......
Anna is fully into toddler mode now. We had a great morning running around the beach with Anna Wilner and Rachel, but on the way home Anna got very, very angry. (I think because we were going home and not to Anna Wilner's house as she requested.) When she woke up from the nap in the car she was still very, very angry. I had the pleasure of dragging a screaming, kicking, mommy-hitting toddler, two bags and a backpack down the street and into the apartment building with people looking at us from all around. Tantrums really make a weekend.
Aunt Dawn gave Anna a toy camera for her birthday. Anna loves it and uses it often, with some success. The photos are pretty funny. Here's a bunch of her first set. Many are from Dad and Kole's most recent visit. Some of them were taken with a little help. Anna's still learning to aim. Oh, and the camera has a funny feature in which you can take the photo through cartoon graphics (which explains the photo of Kole with the funny nose in the second row.)
at my work, of course. Hammer comes down on July 24.
Another entry in this category: (Said to Anna, of course) We're going to have to leave if you don't stop licking that.
She said so the other day when we were buckling her into her car seat (I think she's sick of the car seat). I said she won't be driving a car for many, many years. Then she had another idea: "Drive motorcycle?"
