Raha and Brad had tons of people down to a beach house in Aptos for the weekend -- so much fun! The house was right on the beach, we played volleyball and Anna ran around in the sand and entertained the relatives. They had so much food, Anna just ate and ate all day long. She was wiped out by the end of the day. Happy Birthday, Raha!
Here's the group shot, Raha's in the center right; Brian, Anna and I are at upper left:
Anna checked out all fine and dandy again today: 25th percentile in height and weight (she only weighs 23 pounds; seems waaay heavier to me), 75th percentile in head circumference (that's our little brainiac). She was so unhappy about the shots; she seemed very surprised that someone would do that to her clean out of the blue. But luckily, no more shots for a long time now. And she got over it, just not as quickly as the last few times. Poor sweetie. Doc had no suggestions for growing hair. Next time we go to the doctor (with luck) Anna will be 2! Incredible.
The inevitable marketing corruption of our kid has begun, alas. Anna and I were walking to the playground yesterday and she starts hollering and earnestly making the sign for "rabbit." Well, we see a lot of dogs in our neighborhood, but not many rabbits in the big city, so I was confused. I looked all over the place, what could she mean? And then, I looked up: A HUGE billboard with the Nesquick bunny was on the corner. Darnit. That's the first time I've noticed HER noticing advertisements. Arrrrgh. Soon there will be bellowing for Sponge Bob SquarePants trinkets or WALL-E something-or-others. Maybe we DON'T want too many new words learned soon ....
